Email marketing: newsletters to clients

Printer-Friendly Format

Email marketing newsletters to clients is one of the better ways to sell your services.   You become a solution provider by demonstrating your expertise through information.

One of the best ways to market yourself is to demonstrate your knowledge and expertise of your service by offering useful information.  Email marketing newsleters to clients can be a very effective tactic to boost sales and to get referrals.

Here are a few tips for effective email newsletters to clients:

Focus on content, not promotion.   A newsletter should include advice, tips or commentary that is helpful to clients.  If you focus too much on promoting your services, they will unsubscribe.  Before you start an email newsletter, plan out an editorial schedule of useful content and then weave in a few promotional items.

Include case studies from previous clients.  A really good content element is to include case studies or success stories from other clients.  Writing about what's working with others is a great way to reinforce your relationship with clients.

Offer support.  Remind customers that you are there to support them.  This is easy to do with a simple a simple link to your "contact us" page on your website with a blurb -- something like:  "Have a question or a need?  Ask us, we're just a click away."

Include any news about your service.  If you've recently updated you ability to serve customers (equipment upgrades, new ways to contact you, etc.) be sure to announce those as they come up.   Also, if you've signed on new customers, you might want to announce that, too.

Ask your clients to forward the emails to others.   Put a short note in the email to foward it to others they know that might be interested.  This is a great way to build your list, and get referrals from current clients.
